SURVIVR has received global attention for creating a police training simulator that provides a new combination of cutting edge technologies. Our simulator was designed to take de-escalation to a new level of realism, and is being used by police agencies across the nation today.
SUPERIOR, Wis. – Superior Police Chief Nicholas Alexander sat down with FOX 21’s Dan Hanger to talk about his priorities for 2021, which include an increased focus on the department’s community policing efforts while investing in a virtual training simulator for officers.
“SurviVR, which develops a range of training simulations, including school shootings. These feature randomly generated characters of all ages, builds, genders and ethnicities to challenge and monitor inbuilt preconceptions about visible differences.”
SURVIVR, a provider of virtual reality (VR) training solutions for police and security forces, has recently been awarded a Phase III SBIR contract by the US Department of Defense (DoD) to provide its VR training platform to the US Air Force (USAF).
SURVIVR was recently accepted by Techstar’s 2020 Austin, TX cohort. Techstars is ranked as the best global business accelerator to date. Over 1000 companies applied, and only 10 were accepted. Techstars only invests in companies that are destined to change the world, and that’s exactly what we’re here to do.
Techstars-backed, SurviVR is an immersive VR first responder training technology that enables police, military and security personnel training with realistic scenarios and graphics. The Dallas-based company also has offices in Austin, as it was accepted into the 2019 MassChallenge Texas cohort. In 2018, SurviVR took third place at UT Austin’s DisrupTexas competition and took top prize at UT-Dallas’ Big Idea Competition.
Virtual reality can be fun and games, but the tech’s use cases go way beyond that. One Richardson startup called SURVIVR is using the emerging technology to empower officers to better protect communities and themselves.
